Our Story
THERIS was born out of the love for horses and the deep relationship we can share with them. Founder Jessie Ihrcke started her practice with the desire to share with others the benefits of this deep connection.

Understanding the world through horses
As a child growing up in a mixed race family, I never really felt like I fit in. I was never Asian enough or European enough. But being at the stables with horses, I just fit. I felt so accepted because they never asked me where I was from or who I knew. They just accepted me for who I was and gave it their all. And this is absolutely what shaped me into who I am today.
I leant to understand the world through my connection with horses. It's really through my personal experience that made me want to open up my own therapeutic company because I wanted others to feel waht I felt. I think it's safe to say that when anyone mentions therapy, the first thing that comes to your mind is sitting in a room with a therapist. That is what we consider to be a traditional setting.
"The horses just accepted me for who I am and gave it their all. This is absolutely what shaped my personal experience with the world."
A different kind of therapy
Similarly, when it comes to individuals with special needs and/or disabilities, the form of traditional therapies that most of us are aware of would be physiotherapy, occupation therapy and speech therapy. And while I definitely agree that these therapies are beneficial, therapeutic riding and equine-assietd therapy is a combination of all of these therapies. It is an alternative, all-inclusive and flexible form of therapy that can be catered to each individual's needs.
With years of experience in Singapore and overseas, I have seen and recognised the need. Be it children or adults, I wanted them to know they are worthy, even if they have a disability of notbeing being able to walk with their two legs, because I can give them four legs.
A mission that keeps us going
At THERIS, we focus on the individual's needs through the amazing relationship they build with our horses. Even though the challenge we have in renting the space and taking care of our horses isn't cheap, what keeps me going is the belief in the effectiveness of our work.
We want to empower individuals to reach their full potential through the nurturing of the horse-human relationship.
